On the way in way passed an historical marker recording a plane crash which occurred in 1943 of a C 47B Dakota Aircraft during a violent electrical storm. There were four US Army personnel and 14 Australian Army/Airforce personnel on board of which none survived.

At Carnavon Gorge there are a number of bush walks. Some short ones and some longer ones. On the first day we were there John and I did a couple of the easier and shorter walks, one to Baloon Cave where there was some Aboriginal 'stencils' on an overhang and another to the Rock Pool.

The next day I set off to do a longer walk (around 11km's return) to the Amphitheatre and the Moss Garden. To reach these sights it was necessary to cross over the Carnavon Creek numerous times and climb up and down a few steps!
To reach the Amphitheatre I had to climb these steps to see this.

The walk to the Moss Garden was not quite as difficult as the Amphitheatre but nearly as tough but just as spectacular.

Our last day was a rest day starting with a leisurely breakfast of bacon and eggs. Yum!

Wow, 11K - that is a walk. But it looked really lovely and well worth the walk.
